JIM SCOTT

Jimmie C. Scott, 72 of rural Canton, Missouri died March 17, 2022 surrounded by his family at his home.

The son of Benjamin F. and Etta Belle Wright Scott was born on December 17, 1949 in Williamstown, Missouri.

He married Marie Swenka on January 16, 1971 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ewing, Missouri and they made their home in Canton.

Jim was a 1967 graduate of Williamstown High School, where he played basketball and fast pitch softball for the Williamstown team. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He worked for Firestone, Lewis County Road District, City of Canton Street Department for 31 years and a farmhand for over 40 years.

Jim was a simple man of quiet disposition. He spent his time in the country fishing, hunting, and working with his hands. He was a woodworker, a gardener, and a carpenter. To his friends he was honest, reliable, and selfless. He was, most of all, a hardworking family man. He loved his family above all else. Jim’s devotion to his family was evident in everything that he did. He enjoyed playing tag in the front yard with his children after supper, fishing and playing ball with his grandsons, and evening drives with his childhood sweetheart of 51 years.

He is survived by his wife Marie Scott of Canton, Mo.; three children, Kathy Froman of Canton, Mo., Stacey (Sean) Webster of Palmyra, Mo. and James (Tabitha) Scott of St. Patrick, Mo.; four grandchildren, Derek Froman, Matthew Froman, Jacob Webster and Luke Scott; sister, Judy Overhulser of Fairmont, Mo. and brother, Bennie (Sharon) Scott of Williamstown, Mo.; and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald Scott.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held March 21, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Canton, Missouri. Pallbearers: Kathy Froman, James Scott, Sean Webster, Derek Froman, Matthew Froman and Jacob Webster. Honorary Pallbearers: Robert Hartwig, Luke Scott, Curtis Foust, Jimmie Gorrell, Rock Schaller, Matt Heatherton and Gale Uhlmeyer.

Burial was in the Forest Grove Cemetery at Canton.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Arrangements are with Arnold’s Funeral Home in Canton.
