RANDY LILLARD

Joseph Randy Lillard of Canton, Mo., died March 18, 2022, at the Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton. Randy was born on March 5, 1955 and was the son of Raymond and Jeanette (Miller) Lillard of Williamstown, Mo.
Randy graduated from Canton R-V in 1973 and majored in Vocational Agriculture at Northeast Missouri State University (Truman State) where he was a member of Phi Kappa Theta and then went on to receive his Master’s in Educational Administration from Western Illinois University. Randy began his teaching career at Canton R-V in 1980. He taught shop and driver’s education and held several coaching positions before becoming principal in 1990. Randy led the Canton Tiger baseball team to the MSHSAA state tournament in 1988 receiving a second place title. This accomplishment earned him the Quincy Herald-Whig Baseball Coach of the Year recognition. Randy served the Canton R-V School District for 31 years. After retirement, Randy continued to be the voice of the Canton Tigers by announcing at all home basketball games.
Randy was a faithful servant to the Canton R-V School District and loyal fan of the sports programs especially during the years his daughter, Lindsey played basketball and softball. Randy’s greatest joy was his daughter, Lindsey. Randy enjoyed visiting with friends, playing golf, and was always ready to crack a joke with an ornery grin. His witty sense of humor was a true blessing to all who knew and loved him. Randy touched the lives of many students and teachers throughout his tenure and was a positive impact for so many. He will forever be fondly remembered as the “Big Guy.”
He is survived by his daughter Lindsey (Taylor) Perrigo of Lakewood, Colo., his siblings Rick Lillard of Williamstown, Mo., Brenda (Jim) Barkley of Canton, Mo., and Cheryl Leighton of Paxton, Ill.; nieces and nephews; Jennifer Lillard, Travis Lillard, Jay Barkley, Eric Barkley, Mitch Taylor, and Chris Taylor.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022 from 4-8 pm at Davis Funeral Home in Canton, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Can & Will Booster Club (200 S. 4th St. Canton, MO 63435) which proudly supports all Canton R-V athletic programs.
