CHRISTOPHER HOSKINS

March 09, 2022

Christopher C. F. Hoskins, 68, of Macon, Mo., died February 28, 2022, after a lengthy illness.

Chris was born on January 6, 1954, the son of Christopher and Frances (Goodwin) Hoskins as a man with a big heart and a generous disposition. Chris was one of 6 children: Annie Ruth-White (deceased), Joe Hood (deceased), Gloria Russ (Saginaw, Michigan), Lynetta Noethtich (Anderson, Indiana), Ronald Hoskins (Caruthersville, Missouri). Chris was strong-minded and respected by others and loved his family. He never ignored the needs of a fellow friend, neighbor, or acquaintance. As a ‘jokester,’ Chris had a knack for coming up with nicknames for everyone. He brought sunlight and happiness into many he met and left them better off for having known him.

Chris attended Caruthersville High as a teen, followed by 2 yrs. at Mizzou in Columbia and four more years completing his degree at Missouri Western. He missed his days as a running back, and as a Kansas City Chiefs fan, he was never short of words to describe the thrills of a running back scoring a touchdown or running an essential play. Chris was considered a professional athlete. After a knee injury changed his course, he later pursued a career in law enforcement. Chris retired in 2013 and was spending his retirement time in Macon after his 33 years of service as a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, where he served in duty stations around Northern Missouri. Law enforcement brought him full excitement and allowed him to work closely with people from all walks of life. Appointed to the patrol in April of 1980, he started his career in Troop H in St Joseph. He participated in the Police Olympics in Florissant, where he earned Gold Medals for shot put and discus, setting new records in these events. Later he was reassigned to Troop B in Macon and finished his career at the Mark Twain Casino in Lagrange.

Chris was a collector of many things. He was interested in trivia, and anything considered ‘quirky or ‘unusual. His intelligence set him apart as he regularly contacted many to share a text message or an email of some item of interest that would most immediately brighten your day.

A man of Faith, Chris was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully and diligently in the office of Elder, working with many that came to him for advice and assistance. He will be missed truly by all.

He is preceded in death by; his parents, Christopher and Frances Hoskins; sister, Annie Ruth-White; brother, Joe Hood; grandmothers, Anna Hoskins, and Hattie Hoskins; uncle, Steve, and Doc Hoskins; aunt, Sally Johnson, Mirl Pride; niece, Angelique Hoskins.
