JAN HOWARD SOLTER

Jan Howard Solter, 80, of Ferdinand Indiana, formerly of Michigan, died March 4, 2022 at his home.

Jan was born in Quincy, Illinois on June 17, 1941 and was raised in La Grange, Missouri by the late Waldo and Louise (Ellison) Solter.

Jan grew up with a love of farming and the outdoors.  He enjoyed playing golf and tennis.  Jan also loved motorcycles and Corvettes.  He started his career as a math and science teacher and later became vice principal and principal retiring from education after many years.  After his retirement he became the business manager of St. Monica Catholic Church.

Jan is survived by his wife, Bonnie Solter of nearly 60 years; Daughters, Kim Christine Miller and her husband, Paul of West Harrison, IN; and Tonya Marie Phillips and her husband, Matthew of Gentryville, IN.  Grandchildren, Jacob, Patrick, and Grace Miller;  Brother, Lance Solter and his wife, Marilyn of Chesterfield, MO;  and any extended family members and friends.

Services were held March 8, 2022 at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Indiana with Father Ron Kreilein officiating. 

Burial is in Wright Cemetery in Gentryville, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
