KATHLEEN COX
Kathleen (Kathy) Cox, 85, died Feb. 9, 2022, at Alpine Meadows Living Facility in Meridian, Idaho.
Kathy was born Feb. 17, 1936 in Dublin, Ireland to her birth parents Nicholas and Kathleen Healy and raised by Owen and Mariah McAuliffe. She met the love of her life, Edward J. Cox, at a dance in London while he was serving in the U.S. Navy. They were married June 30, 1957 in his hometown of Cold Spring, N.Y. The couple lived in Cold Spring, N.Y until 1976, then moved to the western United States. They lived in Arizona, California, Idaho and Canton, Mo.
Kathy had many happy memories of her childhood in Ireland and passed on the tradition of her Irish heritage to her family. She was a homemaker and enjoyed volunteering at Senior Centers and was a daycare teacher. She enjoyed making treasured gifts for her children and grandchildren. She was a gentle lady who will be missed by her loved ones. Her childhood friend, Georgina Nichols from Ireland, also later moved to the US and the two ladies maintained a lifelong friendship.
Surviving are two sons, Ed and Rita Cox of LaGrange, Mo., and David Cox of Bakersfield, Calif.; three daughters, Susan and Lee Murphy, LaGrange, Mo.; Sandy and Bart Thompson, Sacramento, Calif.; and Christine and Clan Killian, Meridian, Idaho.
Also surviving are grandchildren, Sue’s children: Mandy and Trent Eisenberg, LaGrange; Marcy and Ryne Schrage of Moscow Mills, Mo., Mariah Murphy, LaGrange; Ed’s children: Kaylynn and Zach Mathes, Ewing; Robert (Katie) Cox, LaGrange, Mo; Karyann and Andrew Patterson, Quincy. Ill.; Dave’s children: Catie and Brent Putman, Colorado; Kiefer, Kindra and Kacee Cox, Sandy’s children: Emma and Noah Thompson, all of Calif.; and Christine’s children: Cameron, Alexis and Ronan Killian, all of Idaho. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Zoey, Roran and Lucy Eisenberg, Quinn and Ivy Schrage, Zaylie, Kase and Kiersten Mathes, Kaidyn Patterson, Summer and Graham Putman.
She was preceded in death by her husband who died Aug. 1, 2014 and parents.
She was inurned with her husband at the Idaho State Veteran’s Cemetery in Eagle, Idaho.
