HARVEY GOWER

Harvey (Dean) Gower, 74 of rural Lewistown, Missouri passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa.
The son of Harvey and Rita (Beer) Gower he was born on October 25, 1947 at Quincy, Illinois.
He was united in marriage to Carla Schmitz on October 8, 1988 at Hester Community Church near Maywood, Missouri.
Dean graduated from Quincy High School Class of 1966 and then Quincy Technical School with a Heating, A/C & Refrigeration Degree. He served as an Airman First Class in the U.S. Air Force from 1966-1970 working in various states as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic assigned to Red Horse. He retired from Gardner-Denver in Quincy after 39 years. He was baptized a Catholic and a Baptist then attended the Monticello Methodist Church for the last 30 years. He loved attending stock car and sprint car races. He also loved NASCAR racing, St. Louis Cardinals, coon hunting, bowling, fishing and camping.
He is survived by his wife, Carla Gower of Lewistown, Mo.; children, Jeff (Keri) Gower of Paris, Mo., Jason Gower of Knox City, Mo., Angela (Jonathan) Fuqua of Quincy, Il., Matthew (Eve) Moore of Kahoka, Mo. and Joseph (Tabitha) Moore of Columbia, Mo.; grandchildren, Cody, Rebecca, Jenna and Kara Gower, Brandon, Oliver and Remington Moore, Olivia, Allison, Audrey, Henry and Eloise Fuqua; great grandson, Colton; a sister, Janet (Don) Benjamin of Payson, Il.; sisters and brother in law, Leroy Veile, Peggy Gower, Edwin (Tammy) Schmitz, Robin Berhorst, Linn (Teresa) Schmitz and Mark (Susan) Schmitz; mother and father in law, Caroline (Lee) Payne; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jimmy Gower, daughter, Angie Gower, sister, Gaile Veihle and three brothers, Mike Platt, Jerry Gower and Joe Gower.
A graveside memorial service will be held, Saturday, January 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Monticello Cemetery at Monticello, Missouri with Rev. Carolyn Leaver officiating. Military Honors will be provided by Lewis County Memorial Post 578. Refreshments will be served immediately following the service at the Monticello Methodist Church for a time of fellowship with the family.
