Duane Job, 83, of Canton, Mo. died July 28, 2021.

Duane was born June 11, 1938 near Canton a son of Hadley and Waneta Shires Job. He married Carmelita Campbell on February 26, 1956 at Bluff Springs United Methodist Church north of Canton. They celebrated 65 years together.

Duane worked for Rice’s Wholesale Grocery Store before starting a life long journey of farming. During the winter months, he worked for Lewis County Gas Company in Canton.

Duane accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior when he was 12 years old at the First Baptist Church in Canton, later changing his membership to the Wyaconda Baptist Church west of Canton, where he served as Deacon and Trustee for many years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 287 in Canton.

After retiring from farming, he spent many years working with wood, building many things from entertainment centers to buck board benches and made lots of walking canes for family and friends. Most of the lumber came from trees on his farm. He truly did have the patience of Job, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Carmelita Job of Canton; daughters, Jeana (James) Geisendorfer of Lewistown, Mo., and Debbie (Brian) Deen of Canton; son, James Duane Job of Durham, Mo.; grandchildren, Nicole Edington of Overland Park, Kan., Jeremy (Miki) Geisendorfer of Monticello, Ethan Geisendorfer of Lewistown, Shanda Ganaway of LaBelle, Mo., Kayla (Merritt) Lomax of Canton, Kelsey Job of Durham and Kristine Job of LaGrange; great grandchildren, Natalie Wilson of LaGrange, Gage Smith of La Belle, Jolie Geisendorfer of Monticello, Ty Edington of Overland Park, Kan., Luke Geisendorfer of Monticello, Mason Smith of La Belle, Ellie Geisendorfer and McCrae Geisendorfer of Lewistown, Mo., Grace Lomax of Canton and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter in law, Kelly Job and grandson Michael James Job, brother Ron Job, sisters, Peggy Stiffey and Joetta Gorrell, brothers in law, Jack Stiffey and Willis Gorrell, sister in law, Kay Campbell and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

A private family service will be held at the Wyaconda Baptist Church Cemetery near Canton at a later date.

The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Wyaconda Baptist Church Cemetery or to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice in care of Davis Funeral Home, P.O. Box 108, Canton, MO 63435
