RICHARD HAMILTON

Richard Neil “Herky” Hamilton, 86 of Hannibal, Missouri, died July 29, 2021 at Hannibal Regional Hospital.

Herky, was born on May 5, 1935 in Lewistown, Missouri to Jack and Gladys Lewis Hamilton. He proudly served in the U. S. Army and retired from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers in 2002.

He was united in marriage to Carla (Billings) Bailey in October of 1996 at Las Vegas, Nevada.

Herky had a passion for woodworking and built an array of beautiful furniture and other unique items over the years which he shared with his family and friends. He was known for being a jokester and having a kind spirit. He enjoyed being outdoors, playing golf and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Carla Hamilton of Hannibal, Mo.; three children, Ron (Tiffany) Hamilton of Pleasant Hill, Mo., Mark Hamilton of Udall, Ks. and Carol Manning of Schaumburg, Ill.; three grandchildren, Justin Roach, Stephanie Anderson and Katherine Hamilton; three great grandchildren; brother, J.W. (MaryAnn) Hamilton of Hannibal, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held August 2, 2021 at Arnold’s Funeral Home in Canton, Missouri with Rev. Mandy Gosik officiating. Visitation was held prior to services. Pallbearers: Jack Hamilton, James Hamilton, Justin Roach, Jordan Bailey, Mekenzie Chancelor and Ron Hamilton.

Burial with military honors by Lewis County Memorial Post 578 was in the Lewistown Cemetery at Lewistown, Missouri.
