Roger Hopson of Ewing, Mo., died July 25 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill. Roger spent the first 40 plus years of his life working and farming in Adams County Ill., but has been a long-time resident in Lewis County Missouri.

Roger is survived by his son Randy Hopson and wife Michele of Palmyra, Mo., son in-law Jeff Russell husband to Pam (Hopson) Russell of New Boston, IL, daughter Deann Turner and husband James Turner of Ewing, Mo.,, son David Hopson and fiancé Debi Burke from Mason, Ohio and son Myron Hopson of Quincy, Ill. Grandchildren Renee and husband Dale Beam, Regina Strong and husband RJ, Jordan Bergman and husband Michael, Olivia Hopson, Claire and husband Evan Briddle of Colo., Amanda Struchtemeyer and husband Barrett, Jami Turner, Parker Hopson, Mitchell Hopson, Johnnie Goings, Danny Goings, Nathan Russell and wife Geneva, Brandy Russell, Nathen Jackson and Jamee Jackson. Also survived by 12 great grandchildren along with nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife E. Ann (Boyles) Hopson, Sister Donna Steed and her husband Carlos, his mother Lela E. (Guseman) Hopson and father Kenneth Charles Hopson, daughter Pamela S. Russell, Grand-daughters Jessica Hopson and Bree Jibben.

Roger began his life working with his parents on the farm, where the cared for livestock and row crops. From 1951-1953 he honorably served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War, where he was honorably discharged with a rank of Corporal. He met is lovely wife Ann at a local dance, after being married, they then had five children. Roger spent most of his life doing what he loves raising a family, raising row crops and livestock. When Roger’s family was younger, they were active members in 4-H Community Clubs in IL and Missouri. In Lewis County he worked with other volunteers to help raise finds to develop the existing Lewis County Fairgrounds. He enjoyed participating in social activities at the Ewing Sr. Housing for many years and participated in Housing Board meetings. On August 10, 2003 Roger dedicate his life to Jesus Christ through baptism, when he became a member of the Dover Baptist Church. In more recent years he continued to spend time with family and friends, but also enjoyed relaxing at home enjoying Western movies, rocking on his front stoop at his apartment and socializing at local restaurants.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in LaGrange.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in LaGrange, Mo., with Rev. Elmer Hagood officiating. Music: Daddy Never was the Cadillac Kind, Grandpa, and I Believe. Pallbearers: Mitchel Hopson, Parker Hopson, Jeff Russell, Barrett Struchtemeyer, Al Hogg, Bill Hibner, Skylar Beam and RJ Strong. Honorary Pallbearers: Billy Turner, Bill Boyles, Johnnie Goings, Danny Goings, Mae Hibner and Rose Hogg

Burial with military honors will be at the Loraine Cemetery in Loraine, Ill.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Loraine Cemetery or to the Great River Honor Flight in care of Davis Funeral Home, P.O. Box 146, La Grange, MO 63448
