JOYCE ANN (FIFER) NEWTON

Joyce Ann (Fifer) Newton, age 79, of Ewing, Mo., died July 24, 2021 at her home in Ewing.
She was born December 15, 1941 in La Belle, Mo., a daughter of Harold and Anna Klataske Fifer. She married LeRoy Carper and to this union was born Kevin and Douglas Carper. She later married Larry A. Newton and to this union was born Shane Newton.
Joyce enjoyed attending the V.F.W. and the Eagles Club in Quincy. She owned and operated the former Idle Time Bar and Grill in Ewing. She had also worked at Motorola, Colt Industries, Quincy Compressor, Dura Automotive and the Ewing Nutrition Site.
Joyce loved to go camping and fishing and also enjoyed attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting and other events.
She was a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church near Ewing.
Survivors include her children, Doug (Bev) Carper of Maywood, Mo., and Shane (Dawn) Newton of Ewing; brothers, Robert (Dorothy) May and Don (Betty) Fifer both of Ewing; seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and her beloved cat “Fatty”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Kevin Carper and one brother, Arthur Fifer.
Graveside services and burial will be held Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ewing Memorial Cemetery in Ewing with Rev. Jesse Rogers officiating. Pallbearers: Lewis Stallard, Justin Carper, Brad Carper, Troy Carper, Shad Newton and Chance Newton.
There is no visitation, but family and friends are welcome to attend the committal service.
The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of Northeast Missouri in care of Ball-Davis Funeral Home, Ewing, Mo.
