ALBERTA “MARIE” NOVINGER

Alberta “Marie” Novinger, 95, of Quincy, Ill., died June 21, 2021. at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.

She was born August 21, 1925 in Adair County, Mo., a daughter and only child of Albert and Opal Marie Branstetter Harmon.

Marie married Harold Raymond Novinger on March 2, 1945 in Kirksville, Mo. He passed away August 12, 2008. Marie taught in rural schools in Sullivan and Adair Counties from 1943-47 and was secretary for the LaGrange School from 1967-71. She and her husband lived on farms near Novinger until 1958 when they moved to LaGrange.

Marie enjoyed her family, friends and being a homemaker. Her various interests included sewing, scrapbooks and family genealogy. She was a member of the La Grange United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Gary (Susan) Novinger of Columbia, Mo., and Randy (Pamela) Novinger of LaGrange; one daughter, Judy (Mike) Bishop of St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren, Douglas (Sarah) Novinger of Columbia, Andrew (Kara) Novinger of Nixa, Mo., Kevin (Lisa) Novinger of Quincy, Sara (Jason) Brigman of Fowler, Ill., and Joseph (Kelly) Bishop of St. Louis; great grandchildren, Audrey and Brooke Novinger of Columbia, Zane and Alton Novinger of Nixa, Owen, Ellie and Isla Novinger of Quincy, Zoie Brigman of Fowler, Natalie Bishop of Eureka, Stella, Evelyn and Hazel Bishop of St. Louis; two sisters in law, Louise Hepler of Marshalltown, Ia., and Naomi Montague of Tulsa, Okla., and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one grandson Jeff Bishop of St. Louis.

Graveside services and burial were held June 27, 2021 at Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, Mo., with Pastor Dawn Gerard officiating.

Visitation was held June 26, 2021 at the Davis Funeral Home in LaGrange.

The family suggests memorials be made to Casita Catherine Assisted Living Center or to the charity of the Donor’s Choice.
