LOU JEAN CALVERT

Lou Jean Lamme Calvert died June 12, 2021 at her home in Canton, Missouri. She was born March 27, 1930 near Laclede Missouri, a daughter of Roy S. Lamme and Lula Shanks Lamme. After finishing eighth grade at a one-room schoolhouse, she graduated from Laclede High School. Later she worked as a secretary at the Livingston County Welfare office. In 1949 she married George Calvert of Linneus, Missouri, and they farmed for five years. They moved to Milan Missouri and joined the Methodist church. In 1959 the family moved to Canton Missouri and transferred their membership to Immanuel United Methodist Church.
Jean was active in United Methodist Women, served on the Lewis County Nursing Home board of directors, the Canton Council of Churches, and completed 57 credit hours at Culver-Stockton College. She published poetry in Today's Farmer magazine and other publications. She received an award as outstanding citizen in 1992 from the Canton Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include her husband, George Calvert, children Sam Calvert and wife Janice, Anne Whitehead, Jane Herring, Kerri Calvert and husband Nuusa T. Faamoe, Ruth Tamulonis and husband John, and Grace Calvert and husband Andy Harris. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren (William Calvert, Seth Calvert, Mara Calvert, Abigail Whitehead, Angela Herring, Amy Herring, Taluai Bryce, Tapaau Faamoe, Nuusa Faamoe, Isaac Faamoe, and Maxwell Tamulonis, who are scattered from Brooklyn New York to Vancouver, Washington and Mexico) and four great-grandchildren (Alaina Bryce, Xela Bryce, Leonard Bryce, and Hope Susan Jean Calvert).

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Sue McQueen, sister Mary Jo Ellis, and her daughter Susan Calvert (Susan being survived by her husband Kevin Cosgrove).

Funeral services for Jean will be held Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Canton with Martha Jones officiating.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 18, 2021 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton and again from 9:00 a.m. until time of services in the church. Music: Shirley Hinkle, pianist. Pallbearers: William Calvert, Seth Calvert, Nuusa Faamoe, Isaac Faamoe, Tapaau Faamoe.

Burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton.
In lieu of flowers, Jean requested memorials may be made to Immanuel United Methodist Church or the Canton Public Library.
