John Eldie "Mimmie" Mims

John Eldie "Mimmie" Mims, 57, of Quincy, died May 31, 2021 in his home. He was born on February 6, 1964 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Rev. John Henry Mims and Helena (Pearl) Mims.

John had previously worked at Walmart and at Titan Wheel. John was an avid bowler and enjoyed BBQing. He was a member of Green Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his father Rev. John Henry Mims (Vickie) of Quincy, IL: three children, John Eldie Mims, Jr. of LaBelle, MO; Joshua Lamar Mims of Quincy and Karryana Mims of LaBelle, MO., and seven grandchildren, siblings, Inde'a Bradley (Mike) of Palmyra, MO and Sherlene Simpson (Errol) of Las Vegas, NV, sister-in-law, Pamela Mims of Columbia, MO. Numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and many very close friends also survive.

John was preceded in death by his mother, a brother, Reverend Jeffrey L. Mims and a sister, Helane 'Nell' Mims-Adams and two granddaughters and a grandson.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial service for John Eldie Mims will be held at Green Chapel Missionary Baptist church, 109 North 3rd Street, LaGrange, MO Saturday, June 19, 2021. Reverend Jeffrey A. Green will officiate the services. Visitation will be at the church from 11:00 until the time of the services at noon. The family requests that all attending please wear masks.
