This has been a dreary day, however, the 50-degree temperature made it bearable. This is a fun week with daylight time today, St. Patrick’s Day on Wednesday, and the first day of Spring on Saturday. A reason to celebrate!

We had choir practice today and preparing for the Easter season at South Union Baptist. It will be great to worship in person this year since last year did not work out because of Covid-19. We are so blest that the vaccine is available in our area because some areas seem to have a problem getting enough of it.

Bobby, Rachel, Luke, Jacob, and Elijah were here for lunch today and I tried some new recipes that turned out well. I also made some cupcakes and put sprinkles and sparkles in the center of them and the boys enjoyed the surprise when they ate them. Of course, they were dark chocolate with green icing for St. Patrick’s Day. Another dish was a new type of healthy ambrosia and roasted vegetables that were good. I cook at lot and when they are here for Sunday lunch I get the final approval on the result.

Out pastor, Dr. Milton Baumgardner is improving and will find out next month if he is a candidate for a kidney transplant. He has had a difficult two weeks and we are all happy for his improving health.

I received a contribution from Patty McClellan for the cemetery this week. She is the granddaughter of the late Albert and Ethel Benedict and the daughter of Wesley and Daphne Benedict. Her family spent several summers visiting in Maywood at their grandparents and her brother was a good friend of my two brothers. The new section of the cemetery was purchased from the Benedict’s because it was a part of their farm.

Marvin and I will celebrate fifty-nine years of marriage on Wednesday. We were married on St. Patrick’s Day because of the untimely death of my father two days before our original date. The day was warm, and we visited the Missouri and Illinois State Capitols on our honeymoon. It was not because we were politically motivated, however, we both liked history and they were free. I am thankful we enjoyed some nice vacations later. Now we have more days behind us than before us and it makes you reflect on the good times and how many blessings you have had.

Happy Anniversary to Milburn and Eunice Fisher on March 17.

I like the Irish saying – “The best things in life are the people we love, the places we have been, and the memories we have made along the way.”
