ALAN WILLIAMS

No one was more careful when Covid-19 came to the States than Alan Don Williams. Still having no idea how he got infected, he succumbed to the virus on January 30, 2021 at the Chandler Regional Medical Center in Arizona. Alan was born on January 11, 1937 to parents Ellen Mae, nee Tipton, and Don Williams in Mexico, Missouri. He grew up in Vandalia, Missouri along with his brother Philip.
After high school, Alan attended Kirksville State for 2 years. His love of cars trumped the need to graduate and he went to work at Martin Chevrolet in Canton, Missouri. There he met a cute young woman who worked in the office that was the spark of his 64 year marriage to Deanna, nee Leftwich.
Alan and Deanna lived in Canton, Missouri for many years where they raised their children Monte Williams of Springboro, Ohio/Goodyear, Arizona and Lisa Sawottke of Fountain Hills, Arizona. He was proud of serving his country in the Army Reserves for a number of years. They later moved to Quincy, Illinois to be closer to Alan’s work at the Jappy Dickson car dealership (continuing his love affair with cars!).
After retiring from Jappy Dickson, Alan and Deanna joined forces and became land acquisition agents for Casey’s General Stores. They enjoyed their travels all across the state uncovering gem locations for new Casey’s stores.
Alan adoringly loved his family. He was always up for playing games with the grandchildren, Eric and Lily Williams and Sarah Hodges and Samantha Zahn. He was able to enjoy two great-grandchildren, Adalynn and Jackson Hodges, but will miss seeing a new great due later this year.
He was the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back and go without if he thought you needed or wanted it. Alan loved to putter in his garage and play around on the computer. He and Deanna moved to Arizona in 2019 to be closer to their children.
Due to Covid restrictions, the family has opted for a private service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Salvation Army.
