DOROTHY L. ELLISON

Dorothy Lavon (Frieden) Ellison, 96, of Canton, MO., died December 15, 2020 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

She was born September 20, 1924 in Elgin, Iowa the youngest child of Fred and Rose Grimm Frieden. She married George A. Ellison on June 19, 1943 in Canton, MO. He died March 15, 1984.

Dorothy was 1 of 13 children in her family. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic in Canton and had previously belonged to the Notre Dame Catholic Church in La Grange. She enjoyed baking angel food cakes, loved being with her grandkids and her family meant the world to her.

Survivors include her children, Larry George (Pat) Ellison of Ewing, MO, Diane Rose Bunger of La Grange, MO and Kevin Kent (Marjorie) Ellison of Lewistown, MO; grandchildren, Tami (Dennis) Redd, Shelly (Matt) Lindsey, Amy (Jeff) Schultz, Troy (Sarah) Bunger, Craig (Melissa) Bunger, Chase (Charity) Bunger and Kyle (Lorrie) Ellison; great grandchildren, Ashton, Avery, Andrew and Austin Schultz, Ashley Lewis, Lora Karloff, Taylor, Aaron and Dennis Redd Jr., Joshua Henry, Kelsey Stephens, Ayana and Joshua Day, Adalyn, AlexAndrea, Liam, Reed, Lena Bunger and her name sake, Dorothy Mae Bunger. Dorothy was looking forward to a new baby great grandchild to be born in January 2021. There are also several great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, all of her brothers and sisters and her son-in-law Steven L. Bunger.

Private family services and burial will be held at Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton, MO. Pallbearers: Kyle Ellison, Craig Bunger, Austin Schultz and Andrew Schultz. Honorary Pallbearer: Kenny Collins

The family suggests memorials be made to St. Ann’s Altar Society or to St. Judes in care of Davis Funeral Home, P.O. Box 108, Canton, MO 63435.
