TERRY L. CHILDERS

Mr. Terry L. Childers, age 67, of La Grange, Mo., died December 20, 2015 in the Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton, Mo.

Terry was born October 15, 1948 in Quincy, IL a son of Harvey L. and Eleene K. Keller Childers. He married Carol A. Bunch on April 6, 1968 in Quincy, Ill. She survives.

Terry was a corvette enthusiast and enjoyed buying, selling and restoring classic corvettes. He spent his life in the auto industry and enjoyed every minute. Drag racing was a favorite past time and he and his son spent many years racing. Terry began drag racing as a teenager and continued until just a few years ago. He enjoyed horses in younger years and trips to Las Vegas with Carol to the Slot Tournaments. Terry was a member of the First Baptist Church in La Grange and was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife, Carol A. Childers of La Grange; one son, Eric (Heather) Childers of Quincy; one granddaughter, Kaitlyn Marie LaTour of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one brother in law, Odie E. (Carol) Bunch of Quincy; three sisters in law, Sally (Mike) Koetters of Ocala, Florida, Penny (Karl) Albertson and Sharon (Steve) Dawkins both of Quincy; cousins, Murray Childers of Quincy and Greg Childers of St. Louis, Mo.; several nieces, nephews and his bulldog, Caesar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, uncle, Earl Childers and bulldog, Vader.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 24, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in La Grange with Rev. John H. Mims officiating.Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2015 from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in La Grange. Pallbearers: A. J. Getz, Butch Brown, Junior Bunch, Larry Hoyes, Karl Albertson and Steve Dawkins. Honorary Pallbearers: Terry Foust and Murray Childers. Music: Dorothy Gillespie, organist; Phyllis Heindselman, vocalist.

Burial with military honors will be in Riverview Cemetery in La Grange.

The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in care of Davis Funeral Home, La Grange, Mo.
