GEORGE JOHNSON

George William Johnson, 78, of Canton, Mo., died December 2, 2020 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

He was born May 27, 1942 a son of Marvin Russell and Bessie Dina Bringer Johnson.

George was a hard working man and proud father. He was a Truck Driver and Farmed all of his life and had worked for Bill Lloyd, J. Duane Frieden and Bob Richter. He was of the Lutheran Faith and loved to watch Eagles at the Canton Riverfront and ride his scooter around town.

Survivors include his daughters, Olivia (Cody) Newman of Algood, TN, Vivian Johnson of Rock Spring, GA and Heidi (Chuck) Pierce of Jefferson, GA; one sister, Charlotte (Mike) Sommers of Canton, MO; grandchildren, Melody, Talis and Blaise Newman all of Algood, TN; one niece Robin (Scott) Glenn of Blue Springs, MO; one nephew, Russell (Pam) Sommers of Indianopolis, IN; and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private family services will be held at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton with private burial and military honors in Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton. Pallbearers: Cody Newman, Talis Newman, Blaise Newman, Chuck Pierce and Mike Sommers. Music: How Great Thou Art & Amazing Grace

The family suggests memorials be used to purchase a tree in his memory or to help preserve the Eagle Population.
