MABEL IRENE CAIN

Mrs. Mabel Irene Cain, 91, of the Clark County Nursing Home, formerly of Williamstown, Mo., died November 19, 2020 in the home.

She was born December 7, 1928 near Blandsville, IL a daughter of Leo B. Nichols Sr. and Helen Marge Carlin. She married Kendrick Cain on December 21, 1946 in Williamstown, MO. He died August 1, 1991. A son was born, Leonard Kent Cain, he survives.

Mable worked on the farm, she loved working in the garden and canning for the winter, she enjoyed her flowers, was a great cook, loved playing Skip Bo with her friends, enjoyed crocheting, latch hook, piecing and cross stitching quilts, and loved to see her family and friends come to visit her. She was a very sweet and caring person and was a hard worker all of her life. After her husband died, she moved to town until a couple of years ago when she moved to the Clark County Nursing Home as she was not able to stay at home any longer due to her health.

She was a member of the Providence Baptist Church and for many years served as the Sunday school secretary. Her church family was a very important part of her life. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and a friend to everyone.
Survivors include her son, Leonard K. (Clara) Cain of Fort Myers, FL.; one grandson, Jason K. (Linda) Stukenberg of Belleville, IL; great-granddaughter Aaliyah K. (Andrew) Mencin and great great granddaughters Rehn and Emi Mencin of Troy, MO; great grandson Brendon J. (Hannah) Howdeshell of Columbia, MO; great granddaughter JoLynn M. Scott (Chance) and great great granddaughter Hazelynn M. of Glasgow, MO; great granddaughter LyndaJo M. Scott of Belleville, IL; brother Leo B. Jr. (Maxine) Nichols of Canton, MO.; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers Claude and Norman Nichols.

Graveside services and burial will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 2 p.m. at the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery near Williamstown, MO with Pastor James Leezer officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday morning from 11 a.m. until 1p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton, MO. Pallbearers: Ralph Bradshaw, Ralph Nichols, Jim Lillard, Justin Evans, Kirk Brown and Dennis Nichols. Music: Jackie Scott, Vocalist

The family suggests memorials be made to the Providence Baptist Church.
