General Municipal Election is June 2

The Lewis County General Municipal Election will be held June 2. The election was postponed from April due to the pandemic. The Lewis County C-1 School District is asking voters to approve Proposition K.I.D.S (Keep Improving District Schools). Ballot language reads “Shall the Board of Education of the Lewis County C-1 School District, Missouri, be authorized to increase the operating tax levy of the District by $0.8000 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation for the purpose of meeting additional operating needs of the District? (If this proposition is approved, the adjusted operating levy of the District is estimated to increase by $0.8000 from $3.5319 to $4.3319 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation beginning in Tax Year 2020 and thereafter.)

The Lewis County Nursing Home District is asking for an increase, the ballot language reads, “Shall the Lewis County Nursing Home District be authorized to increase the annual rate of property ta from 13.99 cents to 25 cents on the hundred dollars assessed valuation?

The cities of LaBelle, Lewistown, Canton all have an election with the City of LaBelle also having a proposition which reads, Shall there be a $0.3500 cent tax levy on ($100.00) one hundred dollars assessed valuation for general municipal purposes. To be designated for street repairs and maintenance, for four years. Other ballot information including local candidates, polling places etc. is on page A6.

The City of LaGrange election is scheduled for June 16.

Voters are reminded to use social distancing when voting when possible. Election results will be posted on The Press-News Journal website and facebook page on the evening of June 2 when the results are available from the county clerk.
