April Canton Food Pantry Distribution
Amanda Gosik provided the following information.
The distribution is still scheduled for April 8. Due to the constraints on volunteers the times will be changing to 9:00-12:00 and 1:30-4:30.
If you are coming to pick up food you will need to enter Clark street from the West heading East. You will then get in a line and remain in your car. The city is closing a portion of Clark Street for us to use. The block from 4th St to 5th Street will be doing a double row of cars.
A volunteer will register you. You will NOT be required to sign this month. This goes for TEFAP (Commodities) as well as Senior foods. After the volunteer registers you, a seperate volunteer will put the food in your car. Please have a space cleaned out and pop your trunk or unlock your doors as you get close to the volunteer to unload the cart.
This is obviously new for us and there will be some issues that we will have to iron out as we work through this system. Please be kind and understanding.
-We will need volunteers. The plan is to have 4 volunteer positions that are outside and 6-8 inside. 2 outside will be doing registration. 2 will be loading cars. The group inside will be refilling carts and getting bags ready for the next round of carts. If you would like to volunteer, Mandy Gosik will be making a schedule so that we do not have too many present at one time. You can message this page or call her at 573-288-3018. The recoomendation from Columbia (where we receive our food) is to not have volunteers over the age of 70 at this time.
The council of churches pantry is available at the Canton Christian Church Tuesday through Thursday 8-1.
