EUGENE CARROLL

Eugene (Gene) L. Carroll, 79, of Lewistown, Mo., passed away to be with the Lord while at Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton, Mo., on November, 16, 2015

Gene was born September 28, 1936 in Palmyra, Mo., a son of Avery and Sylvia M. Brower Carroll. He was united in marriage to Beverly J Harscher on December 28, 1985 at West Ely Lutheran Church. She survives.

Gene attended school at Monroe City High School and graduated from Chico California High School. Gene was an over the road truck driver and farmer before retiring. He loved working and riding his horses, attending chickens and coon hunting. Genes mother raised him to learn and follow Gods word. He was known many times to quote scripture for comfort and use the Bible to teach others.

Gene is survived by his wife; one brother, Charles of Chico, Calif.; one daughter, Deanna Blickhan of Moberly, Mo.; three sons, Dale of Monroe City, Dan of Shelbina and Damon (Sarah) Carroll of Center. Gene is also survived by three stepchildren, Debra Shepherd of Canton, Jan (Ron) Bringer, Jim (Toni) Harscher of La Grange, Mo., and a special nephew, Wayne (Gina) Carroll of Monroe City, Mo. Gene was blessed with ten grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Dean, daughter Cindy, grandson Dane Blickhan, granddaughter Elizabeth, and two brothers, Watson and Kenneth Carroll as well as two sons Peppy and Jack who were his constant companions on his lap and by his chair.

Funeral services were held November 20, 2015 at the Ball-Davis Funeral Home in Ewing with Dr. Jeff Brown officiating. Visitation was held prior to services. Pallbearers: DJ Shepherd, Carl Blickhan, Zack Blickhan, Wayne Carroll, Ron Bringer, John Caudill and Chris Power. Honorary pallbearers: William Butch OBrien, Kathy Tierney and Angie Dodd. Music provided by Debra Shepherd, vocalist.

Burial was in Ariel Christian Church Cemetery near Monroe City, Mo

The family suggests memorials be made to the Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton, MO or Ariel Christian Church Cemetery, Monroe City, MO.
