Canton R-V to Host Red Night

January 22, 2020

Damen Laudell, a seventh grader and Canton R-V, is a fighter.  Born with a rare heart condition known as Tetralogy of Fallot, he and his family have spent the last 13 years working closely with doctors through multiple surgeries as they work to correct it.  Damen, along with his family, thought that they had seen the worst of his condition before his surgery in September. However, the surgeons encountered some unexpected complications which left Damen in a very vulnerable state.

Tetralogy of Fallot is a combination of four congenital abnormalities. The four defects include a ventricular septal defect (VSD), pulmonary valve stenosis, a misplaced aorta and a thickened right ventricular wall (right ventricular hypertrophy).

Damen now spends his days balancing school with multiple appointments and tests as they continue to work towards a solution.  So, to honor him and help his family, Canton R-V will be hosting a “Red Night” during the basketball game against Liberty on Saturday, February 1. During the game, there will be a raffle and “Heart Toss” game.  They will also be hosting a taco dinner with all proceeds benefiting Damen and his family. If you are interested in purchasing a special red shirt for the evening, contact Design It. Dinner is from 5-6:30 p.m., with game tip-off at 4:30 p.m. for J.V., and 6:00 p.m. for varsity. Everyone welcome and encouraged to attend.
