WILLIAM RASH

William Phillip Rash, Sr. died December 23, 2019 at Blessing Hospital at Quincy, Illinois.

The son of Garfield and Mary Ellen Phillips Rash was born on August 11, 1939 at Kirksville, Missouri.

He was united in marriage to Donna Gaus on February 24, 1962 at the First Baptist Church of Ewing, Missouri.

Bill served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Camden Baptist Church at Camden, Missouri. He worked at Electric Wheel in Quincy, Illinois for 17 years and at Highland High School for 17 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and liked camping, hunting, fishing, woodworking and he also had a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife Donna Rash of Lewistown, Mo.; three children, Sheila (Daniel) Drebenstedt, Sr. of Taylor, Mo., William P. (Jess) Rash, Jr. of Lewistown, Mo. and Tena (Quentin) Bremmer of Palmyra, Mo.; six grandchildren, Daniel (Jacqueline) Drebenstedt, Jr., Jennifer Drebenstedt (Tyler Hudson), Tyia (Howard) Switzer, Michael Robbins and fiancé Kali Kite, Billy Joe (Lea) Rash and Jessica Rash; five great-grandchildren, Lisa Gabel, Liam Hudson, Brenden Switzer, Karmen Switzer and Raylan Rash; eight step-grandchildren; ten step great-grandchildren; a sister, Koreen Rhea; a brother, Donald Rash; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, Ercil and Annie Gaus, grandson, Wade Drebenstedt, sister, Marion Strickler and three brothers, Marvin, Eddie and Raymond Rash.

Private graveside services were held at the Durham Cemetery at Durham, Missouri with Rev. Ted Middleton officiating. Visitation was held December 26, 2019 at Arnold’s Funeral Home in Lewistown, Missouri. Pallbearers: Bill Rash, Jr., Billy Joe Rash, Daniel Drebenstedt, Sr., D.J. Drebenstedt, Jr., Quentin Bremmer and Michael Robbins. Honorary Pallbearers: Billy Turner, Jim Turner, Mike Nichols, Jerry Lair, Dennis Lair, Howard Switzer and Tyler Hudson.

Memorials may be made to the Durham Cemetery Association or the Donor’s Choice.
