MAXINE WALKER

Maxine L. Walker, 95 of Lewistown, Missouri died November 13, 2015 at the Country Aire Retirement Estates near Lewistown.

The daughter of Mervin S. and Bertha (Tweed) Walker, Sr. was born on January 22, 1920 near Williamstown, Missouri.

Maxine was a member of Providence Baptist Church teaching several Sunday School classes. She graduated from Williamstown High School in 1937 and attended Kirksville State Teachers College. At the age of 18 she started her teaching career at Bunker Hill, Nichols and Williamstown High Schools. She taught 5th grade at Du Bois Elementary School Springfield, IL from 1947-1975.

She is survived by two sisters, Nelda Hilpert of Memphis, Mo., and Delores (Bob) Decker of Cypress, Calif.; a sister in law, Willadean Walker of Kirksville, Mo.; several nephews and nieces, Jim (Mary Ann) Lillard, Debbie (John) Gorham, Vickie Hilpert, Kathy (Robert) Green, Gary (Terry) Hilpert, Steve (Sherry) Hilpert, Teresa Mercer (Mark Madsen), Evelyn Walker, Jonathan (Jennifer) Walker, Marsi (Jim) Scully, Marni (Rob) Farr, Michael (Jasmine) Decker; and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her parents, a sister, Alice Lillard, two brothers, Glenn Walker and Mervin S. Walker Jr.

Funeral services were held November 16, 2015 at the Providence Baptist Church near Williamstown, Missouri with Rev. James Lackey officiating. Visitation was held prior to services. Music provided by John and Debbie Gorham. Pallbearers: Gary Hilpert, Steve Hilpert, Doug Lillard, Jared Sample, David Plant, Jonathan Walker, Michael Decker and Robert Green. Honorary Pallbearers: Debbie Gorham, Vickie Hilpert, Kathy Green, Teresa Mercer, Evelyn Walker, Marsi Scully and Marni Farr.

Burial was in the Providence Cemetery.
