BILLY THOMPSON

Mr. Billy Bruce Thompson, 65, of Burlington died October 24, 2015, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born November 16, 1949, in Quincy, Illinois, he was the son of Herbert Donald and Anna B. Lewis Thompson. On August 6, 1983 he married Debra Lou Crowner at Spring Grove United Methodist Church in rural Burlington.

Mr. Thompson was a pipefitter for I.A.A.P. beginning in 1968, than was called to service in the Army serving in the Vietnam War from 1970 to 1973, after his discharge he returned to the plant working in the Cooling and Heating Department retiring after 43 years on November 20, 2014.

He was a member of the V.F.W, Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. He was an avid Cardinals, Mizzou Tigers, and Hawkeye fan. He loved to work.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Thompson of Burlington and two aunts, Lota Lewis and Sandra Schnitzer of Lewistown, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The memorial funeral service for Mr. Thompson will be 1 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2015 at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Dean Graber officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Per his wishes cremation has been accorded.

Memorials have been established for Great River Hospice and American Lung Association.
