Canton R-V School Board

The Canton R-V School District Board of Education met on March 11 and approved the consent agenda and financial report. The current balance in Funds 1-4 as of 2/28/2019 is $3,129,556.15. This balance is a $234,827.59 increase over the previous year. The unrestricted balance in Fund 1 is $1,669,011.65.

Superintendent Uhlmeyer discussed that the District will continue to watch for increases in the State Adequacy Target which is used to calculate the District’s state payment.

Citizens for Canton R-V Schools committee gave a report. This committee is working independently of the District to support the April 2, 2019 Proposition K.I.D.S. bond issue. This referendum is a no tax increase ballot initiative to allow the District to complete $2.5 million in renovations and upgrades to the District facilities. Uhlmeyer will reach out to Control Technology Solutions (CTS) to discuss the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning solutions for the pre-school and kindergarten classrooms.

The annual Faculty and Staff Appreciation Dinner would be held on April 26.

The 2019-2020 school calendar was approved and contains 173 instructional days, totaling 1104 hours of instruction. Approval was given for senior trip and overnight trips for FFA and FBLA state contests.

The Board accepted a mowing bid from Eric Goodwin of ProLawn Care for mowing services.

The Board also amended the language on certified teacher contracts that allows for the days to hours change in the school calendar.

The Board hired Mike Hall as an assistant soccer coach and Nick Dochterman as an assistant track coach. The Board accepted resignations from the following individuals:Teresa Daugherty, Christina Priebe, Jocee Reever, Lisa Harsell, elementary and Andy Anderson. Contracts were extended to all certified faculty members.
