WILMA GROSS

February 20, 2019

Wilma L. Gross , 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior, February 2, 2019 after a brief illness. She was a fighter to the very end and certainly surprised a lot of people including herself! She had survived several heart surgeries, knee replacements, hip surgery, and celiac disease. She is survived by four children: Dennis Gross (Becky) of Fritch, TX; Donna Terry of Colville, WA; Donald Gross (Leah) of Savannah, Ga; and Debra Gross of Orlando, FL. She was predeceased by her husband D. George Gross of Alpine, TX. She had 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She graduated from high school in Ewing, MO and after graduation went to work in a defense plant in St. Louis, MO to support the war effort during WW II.

She was a quick study and attended business and beauty schools and became a beauty operator after the war ended. She later worked at Lilly Tulip, American Meter, Motorola, Mountain Bell, and earned a retirement from A T & T in 2001 after 20 years. Due to the fact she married a minister she lived in many different locations throughout her life including Missouri, Colorado, Wyoming, Iowa, Nebraska, Hawaii, and for the past 33 years, Orlando Florida.

She grew up in the Assembly of God church attending there throughout her married life and later attended First Baptist Church of Orlando after her job transfer with A T & T. She loved and served the living God and set a wonderful example of a Godly friend, mother and grandmother. She paid her tithes every week and was greatly blessed by God for her faithfulness.

She will be greatly missed by all and was particularly admired by her children for her great faith, her frugality, and her generosity to many different animal protection organizations, children’s hospitals and conservative political causes.

She loved going to Disney World and watching her favorite teams the Denver Broncos and the Orlando Magic win numerous times. She loved them so much her children thought she was even going to adopt John Elway and Shaquille O’Neal! She kept active til the very end even surprising her children by trimming her shrubs at age 90!
