SHIRLEY JARVIS

Shirley Jean Jarvis, 72 of Canton, Mo., died January 10, 2019 when her heavenly Father put his arms around her and took her home.

The daughter of Nolan and Leona Marie Bringer Stewart was born on March 13, 1946 in rural Durham, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Bennie Jarvis on July 19, 1964 at the First Baptist Church of Lewistown, Missouri.

Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canton where she faithfully attended Kum-Join-Us Sunday School class. She loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren. She was not afraid to witness to anyone and always wanted everyone to know they were loved. She and Bennie still worked part time delivering prescriptions for the County Market Pharmacy in Lewistown which they have done for the last 20 years.

She is survived by her husband Bennie Jarvis of Canton, Mo.; two sons, Brent (Shannon) Jarvis and Steve (Tricia) Jarvis, both of Canton, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Nathan (Betsy) Jarvis, Abbey (James) Gregory, Mitchel Jarvis, Zach (Julia) Jarvis, Gable Jarvis, Josie Jarvis, Ben Jarvis and Malachi Jarvis; four sisters, Hazel McDermott of Monticello, Mo., Nina Porter of Canton, Mo., Ruth (Harold) Willis of Quincy, Il., Doris (Ron) Rayl of Granite City, Il.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Leta McDermott.

Funeral services were held January 15, 2019 at Arnold’s Funeral Home in Canton, Missouri with Rev. Brian Stone officiating. Visitation was held Jan. 14 at Arnold’s Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Nathan Jarvis, Mitchel Jarvis, Zach Jarvis, Gable Jarvis, James Gregory and Chad Porter. Honorary Pallbearers: Abbey Gregory, Josie Jarvis, Ben Jarvis and Malachi Jarvis.

Burial was in Forest Grove Cemetery at Canton.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
