Donors and Applicants Sought For Christmas Program

December 05, 2018

The annual Lewis County Adopt-A-Family Christmas program is seeking families, churches, and civic organizations to adopt children for Christmas this year. Judy Eaton of NECAC said the need is really great this year, and so far the need exceeds the donations. Eaton said the Lewis County community is always so helpful and caring. Some of the local children will not have any Christmas. There are a lot of foster children in the system this year and a toy or gift would make a world of difference in their lives.

Persons or groups wishing to adopt a family or just give a gift are asked to contact the NECAC Office at 408 S. Fourth, Canton or phone (573) 288-3969. Financial donations and gifts are also accepted. Volunteers are always welcome. Those who would like to be considered for adoption can pick up an application at the NECAC office in Canton, Family Services, both Canton and Lewis County C-1 Schools or the Methodist Church in Canton. The program is for all of Lewis County. Last year the program served over 250 children. Each family also receives a ham from the Methodist Church.

Each year, NECAC and its partnering organizations, such as Immanuel United Methodist Church and the Canton Council of Churches, coordinate the program that brings Christmas smiles to the faces of over 100 Lewis County families. The git give away will be held December 14 and they would like to have the donations or gifts by December 10. Over the years, many groups or individuals take this opportunity to give. Instead of having a Christmas exchange at the office or club, please consider donating a gift to NECAC.
