MARY MARTHA WALTER

Mary Walter, 94, of Canton, Mo., died August 12, 2018 at 12:15 a.m. at Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton.

She was born April 20, 1924 in Canton, MO a daughter of Clay G. and Ethel Mae (Clark) Walter. Mary never married.

She was the last of her family. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and going to the Colony flea markets. Mary loved being with her family and especially the family dinners. She was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church and the U.M.W. She also served as church secretary/treasurer from 1967 to 1993 and was a graduate of St. Patrick High School.

Survivors include three nieces and a nephew, Delores (Jerrold) Boulware and Gale (Judy) Uhlmeyer all of Canton, MO, Sandra Walter of Richland, IA and Judy (Ralph) Hearn of Muscatine, IA, six great nieces and nephews, 11 great-great nieces and nephews and several great-great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Clark Gilbert Walter, George Merle (Margaret) Walter and Gilbert Walter; five sisters, Delores Mae Walter, Ruth M. (Louis) Gilbert, Ula V. Walter, Dorothy (Leo) Uhlmeyer, Carlene (Allen) Brown and a niece, Arlene Uhlmeyer.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Carolyn Leaver officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery, Canton.

The family suggests memorials be made to Centenary United Methodist Church.
