Local students compete in 4-H Nationals

Trenton Boggus competed in the 2018 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships held in Grand Island, Nebraska. Missouri's 22 small bore rifle team was comprised of Trenton Boggus from Lewis County, Alex Smith from Nodaway County, Kaitlyn Davis from Texas County, and Jason Haselhorst from Cole County. Their coach was Mike Brashears from Odessa. The rifle team placed fourth in each discipline the competed in: CMP, Silhouette and 3P, placing fifth overall. They competed against 83 participants from 21 other states. Trenton is the son of Shane and Martha Bogguss from Lewistown and a member of Monticello 4-H. 
 
Carey Rodas also competed in the 2018 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships. Carey was on the recurve archery team consisting of Lauren Haley from St. Louis, Emily Bowles from Avilla and Carey Rodas from Lewistown. Carey got third the first day for the Field competition, ninth place the second day for Fita, and seventh the thirdday for the 3-D and placed fifth overall. Her team was second place place overall. Nationals consisted of 36 different states, 8 of which qualified for the overall prize and Missouri beat Texas.
