MARY COVEY

Mary Fellinger Covey, 43, of Beloit, Wisc.,, formerly Canton, Mo., was called to heaven May 31, 2018, with her family close by her side. After a courageous battle with cancer, she leaves behind beautiful and lasting memories.

A daughter of Nikolaus and Martha Fellinger, she was born May 30, 1975, and spent her childhood growing up in Canton, Mo. After high school graduation, she attended Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo., where she played softball for the Bulldogs and graduated with a B.S. in Accounting in May of 1997. Mary was united in marriage to Edward Covey on January 19, 2001. Their three children Madison, Allison and Jake were the joy of her life.

Mary was an inspiration to many and known for her work ethic; nurturing lifelong friendships; and,the beautiful family she loved so much. Mary was an avid sports fan. She made yearly trips for many years to Florida to root on her beloved St. Louis Cardinals team at spring training. Family members and friends looked forward to accompanying her and sharing in her enthusiasm. The highlights of her life were celebrating simple moments with those she loved most. These celebrations continued throughout her battle with cancer, always with that unforgettable smile on her face.

Mary leaves behind her husband, Edward Covey, of Beloit, WI; daughter, Madison Covey; daughter, Allison Covey; son, Jake Covey, all of Beloit, WI; parents, Nikolaus and Martha Fellinger, of Canton, Mo; sister, Jaynie (Steve) Davis, of Lithia, FL; sister, Katheryn Cottrell (Scott) of Monticello, Mo; brother, Mick (Janeen) Fellinger, of Canton, Mo; sister, Ruthie (David) McCutchan, of Monticello, Mo; sister, Kris Carroll, of Fort Walton Beach, FL; brother-in- law Rusty (Terri) Covey, of Beloit, WI; brother- in-law Brian (Gail) Covey of Toledo, WA; brother-in-law Jim Lavender of Beloit, WI; and many dear nieces, nephews, aunt and uncles. She also leaves behind many great friends and co-workers who have given her so much comfort, care and support; and, enabled her to “keep on keeping on” her tag line for the last couple of years. Mary would not want a lot of tears in her memory, only a great showing of love and joy, and of course love to look down on everyone decked out in St. Louis Cardinals gear remembering one of her favorite pastimes.

A wonderful mother, woman and aide,

One who was better God never made;

A wonderful worker, so loyal and true,

One in a million, that mother was you.

Just in your judgment, always right;

Honest and liberal, ever upright;

Loved by your friends and all whom you knew

Our wonderful mother, that mother was you.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Funeral services were held June 4, 2018 with Fr. James Wheeler officiating. Pallbearers: Spencer McCutchan, Drew McCutchan, Cole McCutchan, Josh Fellinger, Justin Fellinger and Ben Cottrell. Music: Recorded Selections, I will stand by you, Amazed and She don’t know she’s beautiful. Visitation was held June 3, 2018 at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton.

There will also be a Life Celebration in Beloit, WI to be announced at a later date.  

Burial was in Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Covey Education Fund for Mary’s children or to the Agrace Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.
