SARA ANN VIRGINIA RATLEDGE

Sara Ann Virginia Ratledge, 82, of Canton, Mo., April 28, 2018 at Sunset Home in Quincy, Ill.
She was born February 16, 1936 in Shelbina, Mo., a daughter of Glen Harvey and Virginia Valience Conway Doyle. She married Vernon K. Ratledge on June 24, 1953 in Palmyra, MO. He preceded her in death.
Sara was known by her family and friends as Ann or Sally. Ann worked many factory jobs along with working in the Circus Industry. Along with doing the tight ropes she also did pole swinging. This is where she met her late husband Vernon Kermit Ratledge. They were married for forty years. During the early part of their marriage they were both Deputy Sheriffs in Poplar Bluff, MO. Ann also retired from her position as the manager of the Poplar Bluff Airport after ten years. She loved long rides through the country, card games, casino outings, reading, yard work, crafts, her pets, but more than anything else she loved spending time with her family. She really enjoyed being a mother and grandmother. Ann was the matriarch of our family. She always had time for you and plenty of stories to share and advice to give. She was not only our loved one, but a best friend to each one of us and will be dearly missed everyday. We are so thankful for our lifetime of memories with her.
She is survived by her daughters, Geneiavie Doretta Allen and Anita Dawn Ratledge; granddaughters, Sheri Lowe (Bob Strief) and Rose (Frank) Tekstar; two grandsons, Jimmy and Johnny Nattier; great granddaughters, Chelsi and Shelbi Hall and Stephanie and Emma Tekstar; great great grandson, Brodi Lowe and Kingstin Henderson and great great granddaughter, Brogin Lowe and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Lela Darlene Nattier, brothers Glen Harvey Doyle and Jim Doyle, sister Dorothy Valience Beckman and son in law Gerry Schmidt,
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date for family and friends.
The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Davis Funeral Home, Canton, Mo.
