Nathan Charles Jaynes, 16, of Canton, Mo., died April 15, 2018 at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, MO.

He was born Sept. 29, 2001 in Quincy, IL a son of Jennifer Harmon and Charles Jaynes.

Nathan enjoyed playing basketball, working out in the gym and skateboarding. He was very silly, ornery and very strong willed, but was a dependable friend to everyone. He liked to listen to music, write poetry and play video games with his brother. His friends would come to him for help and he was also known for being good at fixing things.

Survivors include his mother, Jennifer Harmon of Canton and father, Charles Jaynes of Quincy, IL; a sister, Alyssa Holmes of New Boston, MI; brothers, Dalton Jaynes of Canton, Joe Hendricks of Quincy, IL, Charles Jaynes Jr. of Quincy, IL and Kody Jaynes of Quincy, IL; nephew, Noah of New Boston, MI; grandparents, Mark and Karen Carpenter of Canton, Gary and Kim Walker of Lewistown, MO and Kenneth Harmon of Quincy, IL; aunts, Jessica (Bill) Ferguson of Quincy, IL, Kayla (Billy) Lehenbauer of Canton, MO, Katy (Jonathon) Kirk of Jacksonville, IL and Jessica (John) Kau of Quincy, IL; uncle, Jerod Walker of Lewistown, MO; great grandmothers, Jackie Smith of O’Fallon, MO and Norma Harmon of Quincy, IL and several aunts, uncles, great aunts and uncles and many cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by great grandparents, Bryan and Arvilla Douglas and Harvey “Smitty” Smith and Cousin, Kaylee Ferguson

Funeral services were held April 23, 2018 at Life Tabernacle Church in Canton with Rev. Paul Kinney officiating. Burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton

The family suggests memorials be made to the family to help with expenses.
