JOHN E. SLATER

John E. Slater, 68, of Lewistown, Mo., died August 11, 2015, at Country Air Retirement Estates.

John was born January 30, 1947 in La Grange, Missouri, the son of Carl and Ruth Butler Slater.

John had worked as a janitor at Tangerine Bowl for many years. He was a former member of Christian Church of LaGrange and an avid NASCAR fan.

Survivors include: three brothers, Carl A. Slater of Kirksville, Mo.; Charles LeRoy Slater of Sheppardsville, Kentucky; Larry Slater of Quincy; a sister, Donna (Martin) McCarty of Dunlap, Ill; and several nieces and nephews, including his caretaker, Debra (Ronald) Stanley of Lewistown, Mo.

John was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Darlene Decker, Helen Harsell, and Betty Jean Slater; and two brothers: Donald and Robert Slater.

Memorial Service was held August 17, 2015 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Rev. Ted Middleton officiating.

Inurnment: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois
