GERALD REID

Gerald Moore Reid, 88, died peacefully in his sleep Sunday evening, August 16, 2015 at his home.

He was born May 30, 1927 in Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill., the son of Joseph Oren Reid and Mary Ida Moore Reid. He married Jean Predmore December 5, 1948 in Bluffs, Ill. Together they raised four children. She preceded him in death October 9, 1995. He later married Jenny Murphy. She also preceded him in death.

He was a long time farmer and very well respected member of the rural Maywood community. He served in the US Army in Korea .He was an avid St Louis Cardinals and Nascar fan. He was a charter member and active participant of the Maywood Community Center and 4-H club. He also served on the LaGrange School board. Upon retirement he enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends at the 18 Wheeler and later at the Durham Main Stop. He was a member of the Durham Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Jackie (Garry) Higley, of Clayton, Ill., son, Jeff (Donna) Reid of La Grange, a daughter, Janet (Maurice) Stoner of Maywood and a daughter Janie Foulk of La Grange. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Morris Predmore of Robards, KY and a sister-in-law, Janet Predmore of Elmyra, NY, grandchildren, Eric (Tina) Higley,and Amy Higley,of Campoint, Ill., Ed (Dana) Reid of LaGrange, Toni(Jeff) Stone, Melissa and Jennifer (Tony Dykes) Stoner of Maywood, Josh (Autumn) Foulk of Kirksville, Mo., and Shannon (Johnny)Hills of Quincy. Great grandchildren Taylor (Zach) Rickman, Jasmine Scott, Selaha and Cassie Matlock, Gretchen, Ellie, Bella and Garryson Higley, Owen and Sylvia Reid, Madison and Dylan Stone, Emily and Isaac Stoner, Winter and Joseph Foulk, Jace, Trenton and Johnny Hills, great-great grandchildren, Addison and Lucus Rickman. Nieces and nephews, Julie Reid, Jolene (Tim) Briscoe, Jane, Jan, Mike, Marcy, Tom, and Jason Predmore, Joyce (Bill) White, Deann (Dan) Hemboldt, Laura Hall and his loyal caregivers, Jackie, Carla, Joe and Brenda.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Joe Reid, Brothers-in-law, Lou and Terry Predmore and sisters-in-law Erma Predmore and Charlie Reid.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 am, Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Davis Funeral home in LaGrange, Mo., conducted by the Rev Steve Martin.Visitation was held August 18, 2015 at the Davis Funeral Home in LaGrange. Pallbearers: Eric Higley, Ed Reid, Josh Foulk, Austin Aschemann, Jeff Stone and Tim Briscoe. Honorary Pallbeaers: Bob Richter, Paul Durst, Terry Goings, Karl Speer, James Spratt, Marvin Wiegand, Gerald Sutter, Jay Frieden, C.B. Keller and Roger Tiemann. Music: Marge Durst, organist

Burial with military honors will be at the Maywood Cemetery at Maywood, Mo.

Family suggests memorials be made to the Durham Methodist Church in Durham or the Maywood Cemetery Association.
