DELORUS J. LEFTWICH

Mrs. DeLorus J. Leftwich, age 100, of Canton, Mo., died Sunday March 18, 2018 in the Lewis County Nursing Home at Canton, Mo.

She was born August 18, 1917 in Millstadt, Ill., a daughter of Oliver A. and Jessie Weston Schorr. She married Howard E. Leftwich on June 2, 1934 in Ft. Madison, Iowa. He passed away on July 2, 1993.

DeLorus was a farm wife all of her life and cherished the moments that she spent on the tractor and in her garden.

She was a 75 year member of the Primrose Extension Club of Clark County and later the LaGrange Garden Club.

She served as the Secretary of the Gregory Drainage District for over 50 years and was a member of the Bluff Springs United Methodist Church for over 70 years and it’s UMW.

DeLorus loved her family very much and they include her daughter, Deanna (Alan) Williams of Quincy; son, Larry Kent (Vicki) Leftwich of Canton; three grandsons, Monte (Judy) Williams of Dayton, OH, L. Todd (Denise) Leftwich of Canton and Gregory Kent ((Jennifer) Leftwich of Palmyra, MO; granddaughter, Lisa (Keith) Sawottke of Scottsdale, AZ; seven great grandchildren, Gage, Taylor and Bailey Leftwich, Alex and Eric Williams and Sarah and Samantha Zahn and great great grandchildren, Addie and Jackson Hodges.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Weston and James Schorr.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 24, 2018 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton.  A private burial and committal service will be held at Bluff Springs Cemetery near Canton.

Pallbearers:  L.Todd Leftwich, Greg Leftwich, Taylor Leftwich, Monte Williams, Alex Williams and Eric Williams.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Lewis County Nursing Home or to the Bluff Springs United Methodist Church in care of Davis Funeral Home, Canton, MO.
