VERNON RAYL

Vernon L. Rayl, 90, of Ewing, Missouri, died February 23, 2018, at Country Aire Retirement Estate in Lewistown, Missouri.

Vernon was born January 3, 1928, in Lewistown, Mo,, to Frank Elin and Hazel Linn Hamilton Rayl.

He was married to Gilberta Stice on June 16, 1951, in Rossville, GA. She preceded him in death December 20, 2006.

Vernon was a journey carpenter and a farmer. He was a member of a carpenter's union, Rural Carriers for U.S. Postal Service, and the American Legion and VFW in Palmyra, Mo.He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1952.

Vernon enjoyed gardening but most of all enjoyed spending time with family. He was a member of LaBelle Christian Church in LaBelle, Mo., and attended First Baptist Church in Ewing.

Survivors include two sons, Randall "Randy" Rayl (Audrey), Ewing, Mo and Steven "Steve" Rayl (Monica), Crestview, FL, grandchildren, Matthew Rayl (Sara), Jason Rayl (Pam), Joseph "Joey" Rayl (fiancee, Tracie Pratt), Jeremy Rayl, Temothy Bromann (Matthew), great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Matesic, Mason Rayl, Breelayne Rayl, Brady Rayl, Shelby Rayl, Benjamin Rayl, Sadie Rayl, Lydia Rayl, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, brothers Kenneth Rayl, Carol W. Rayl, Marvin Rayl and Robert Rayl.

Memorial contributions may be made to Country Aire Retirement Estate and/or Hospice of Northeast Missouri.

Funeral services were held Feb. 26, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Ewing. Dr. Jeff Brown officiated. Pallbearers: Matthew Rayl, Joseph Rayl, Jeremy Rayl, Bill Rayl, Ronald Rayl and Scott Rayl.Honorary pallbearers will be Captain Jason Rayl, Temothy Bromann, and Nathaniel Matesic.

Burial with full military rites by Boots-Dickson Post 174, was at Lewistown Cemetery in Lewistown.

Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
