KENNETH GENE GLOVER

Kenneth (Kenny) Gene Glover, 66, of Newark, Mo., gave up his battle with cancer at the LaBelle Manor Care Center in LaBelle, Mo.

Kenny was born May 12, 1949, as the eldest son of Dr. Kenneth and Rita Lear Glover. He was united in marriage to Meg Milder on May 29, 1971, at St. Marys Church in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Kenny attended grade school in Newark, Mo., and was among the first freshman to attend the new high school, Knox County R-1 in Edina, Mo.,, graduating in 1967. He went on to Northeast MO State University now Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo. He obtained his degree in Industrial Arts in 1971.

Kenny worked at McGraw-Edison in Kirksville, MO in addition to doing many carpenter jobs, before he returned to Newark to farm with his brothers. He continued to farm, do carpentry and odd jobs up until his illness. Kenny enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, building things and tinkering. He worked on and made stocks for several guns. He shared his hobby of trapshooting with his son and was proud to be a member of the Twelve Point Gun Club at Tolona, Mo. Kenny joined the Newark Volunteer Fire Department at its beginning and served as fire Chief for several years until his illness forced him to step down.

In addition to his wife Meg Glover of Newark, Kenny is survived by the light of his life, his son Charles (Carrissa) Glover of Canton, Mo., and his beloved grandson Liam Glover of Canton, one brother Alan (Lottie) Glover of Newark, a brother-in-law Danny Mike Killday of Holts Summit, Mo., three nephews Kenny Killday, Holts Summit, Mo,, Matt (Dana) Glover of Lewistown, Mo., and Ben Glover of Newark, two nieces, Mary Killday, Jefferson City, MO and Ginnie (Jameson) Scoggin of Newark, six great nieces and nephews and a great great niece and nephew in addition to many first and second cousins and his faithful companion, Sophie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother Geri Moore Glover, his in-laws Charles and Irene Milder, one sister Carolyn Killday, a brother Richard Glover an infant niece Dana Michelle Killday and his uncle and aunt Dr. Downing and Mildred Glover of Canton, Mo.

Funeral services were held August 7, 2015, in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO. Pastor Jesse Rogers officiated. Musical selections were Amazing Grace and Nearer My God To Thee. Visitation was at the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle August 6, 2015.

Casket bearers were Kenny Killday, Matt Glover, Ben Glover, Josh Carter, John Campen and Alex Carter. Honorary bearers were Ron Buswell, Bob Petersen, Dennis Brookhart, Keith Lay and John Veneqoni.

Burial will be in the Newark Cemetery.
