ARTHUR MELVIN BRUMBAUGH

Arthur “Melvin” Brumbaugh, age 77, of rural Bethel, Mo., died January 15, 2018, at his home northeast of Bethel, Mo. He was born June 19, 1940, in Lewis County, Mo., the son of Harry and Doris (Thrasher) Brumbaugh. He was united in marriage to Wendeline Wood in 1967.
Melvin was raised in Lewis County and received his education in Lewistown. He was a jack of all trades but mainly enjoyed operating his bulldozer. Melvin was a man of few words who took great pride in the simpler things in life. He valued honesty, hard work, family, and friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed him. Melvin enjoyed arrowhead collecting, hunting, fishing, his friends at the Fest Hall, and spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the Bethel Christian Church.
Surviving are his wife Wendeline Brumbaugh, mother Doris Brumbaugh of Lewistown, Mo., three children, daughter Patty Brawner and Dennis of Maywood, Mo., son Joe Brumbaugh of Bethel, Mo., and son Jason Brumbaugh and Jody of Bethel, Mo., one brother James Brumbaugh of Lewistown, Mo., two sisters, Erma Geisendorfer of LaBelle, Mo., and Roberta Stice and Russell of Lewistown, Mo., five grandchildren, Anna Leach and Derek, Austin Jones, Kylie Derboven and Shawn, Jodi Brumbaugh, Dalton Brumbaugh and Tea, one great granddaughter Sadie Brumbaugh, one great grandson expected in May, his mother-in-law Dorothy Wood of Macon, Mo., brother-in-law Danny Wood and Ginger, sister-in-law Cindy Shuck and Mike, and several nieces and nephews.
Melvin was preceded in death by his father, four brothers, Kenneth, Ersel, Glen and David Brumbaugh, and a daughter-in-law Tracy Brumbaugh.
Funeral services were held January 21, 2018, in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, Mo. Pastor Dewayne Larenson officiated. Casket bearers: Glen Jones, Ty Miller, Bill Hester, Ronnie Radel, Ronnie Lay and Skip Lay.
Burial was in the Midway Cemetery.
