MARY VIRGINIA WARNER

Mary Virginia Warner, 91, of Canton, Mo., died August 1, 2015 at Hannibal Regional Hospital at Hannibal, Mo.

She was born January 2, 1924 in Williamstown, Mo., a daughter of Roscoe and Susie Bell McNally Legg. She married Harry Warner in Canton, Mo., in 1943. He died January 5, 1985.

After High School Mary went to Cosmetology School and worked at Sutters Drug Store in Burlington, Iowa, she remained in Burlington as a Hairdresser. After her marriage to Harry they traveled with the Military and she continued being a hairdresser for 3 years. When she had children her focus shifted to raising a healthy family. After raising her children she worked at a campground at Sperry, Iowa and later became a House Mother for 9 and a half years at the Chi Omega Sorority at Culver-Stockton College in Canton.

Mary loved her family and was so thankful for her healthy children and all the love in her family--they came first in her life. She loved to cook especially big meals for her family and each child had a favorite dessert. Mary loved going to country music shows and loved music in general. She belong to the Lewis County Nursing Home Auxiliary and was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Canton. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, traveling to Colorado visiting with all of her children and to entertain and have friends over for food.

Marys advice to others is to have lots of love for everyone and stay close together, especially with family.

Survivors include her four children; Steve Warner of Iowa City, Iowa, Gary (Julie) Warner of Burlington, Iowa, Jean (Owen) Jones of Superior, Colo., and Ray Warner of Newton, Iowa; grandchildren, Michael (Holly) Warner, James (Lisa) Eibes, Brandon (Wendy) Eibes, Natalie (Clint) McLaren, Tyler Warner, Ashley Warner and Kevin Jones; great grandchildren, Bryce, Ryan, Jack, Luke, Carter, Harrison and Peyton; also one niece, Susan Duncan; one nephew, Lonnie McHugh, and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Annetta (Mac) McHugh and brother Harold (Doris) Legg and two nephews Timothy and Brian McHugh.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton with Pastor Amanda Ross officiating.Visitation will be held, August 4, 2015 at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton.Music: Shirley Hinkle, Organist; Bill Dorris Vocalist, singing How Great Thou Art and On Eagles Wings; recorded selections will be Amazing Grace by Elvis Presley and Mother I Miss You by Daila and LeRoy Reid

Pallbearers are: Michael Warner, Jamie Eibes, Brandon Eibes, Natalie McLaren, Tyler Warner and Ashley Warner

Burial will be in Providence Cemetery at Williamstown.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Queen of Peace Cemetery in Ewing or to the Lewis County Nursing Home Auxiliary.
