Children's Christmas Store

The Annual Christmas Store for Kids, located in the Antiques and More store in LaGrange will be open Nov. 24 to Dec. 24. The annual tradition is run by Donald and Sharon Sherwood of LaGrange. They open their store, Antiques and More, to children to purchase gifts. Sherwood said they feel the joy of the season when a child realizes that they will be able to buy a Christmas present for someone special in their life. The store will be open for children to buy presents beginning November 24.

The Sherwood's began this adventure many years ago with the hopes that it would help a child who may not be able to buy a present be able to do so. Sherwood said a young person learns the joy of giving and sees the joy of someone receiving the gift. Most of the merchandise is priced from five to fifty cents. The experience of being able to pick out a present is also fun for the child. Many of the children also come for the experience of shopping in small environment, maybe with a grandparent or older sibling. Prices range from a nickel to fifty cents for most items.

Businesses and individuals donate items and money for merchandise to help support the holiday event. The Sherwood's work year round to find items and gather donations for the Christmas Store. Donations are always welcome. Sherwood said people have new items, that they may already have, or won't use and could be donated instead of taking up space in their homes. These items make the perfect gift choice for a child who is trying to show his family, Sunday School teacher, or neighbor, that they are special in their life. New or very gently used items are always accepted.
