BRIAN B. NEWELL

Mr. Brian B. Newell, 83, of Canton, Mo., formerly of Carthage, Ill., died November 9, 2017 in the La Belle Manor Nursing Home, La Belle, Mo.

He was born October 23, 1934 in Quincy, Ill., the son of Frank and Eva Billingsly Newell. He married Donna J. Zimmerman on April 22, 1956 in Peoria, Ill.

Brian grew up in Carthage graduating from Carthage High School in the class of 1952. Brian excelled in all sports but particularly football, where he received a full scholarship to Bradley University.  Brian was in the Air Force ROTC program while at Bradley receiving Jet Flight training in Minneapolis, MN. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business in 1956. Brian was CEO of Newell Motors Chevy and Old’s in Carthage. Brian was a loving husband, father, grandfather and never new a stranger. He loved the outdoors, had a passion for automobiles and above all his love for his family.

He is survived by the love of his life for 62 years, his wife Donna Newell of Canton; seven children, Laura and Kevin Duncan,Canton; Mike and Nicky Newell, Canton, Leasa Jones, Washington, IL; Linda Duncan, Canton' Leslie Greenslaugh, Canton; Steve and Sandy Newell, Dyer, Ind; Brian and Caroline Newell,. Washington, Ill; 17 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; three siblings, Colleen and Frank McNulty, Highland Park, Ill; Terry and Sue Newell, Carthage, Ill; and Dennis and Jordan Newell, Santa Barbara, Calif;

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 1p.m. at Pub 314 in Canton, Mo. All family and friends are invited to attend from 1 until 5 p.m.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
