DELORES STEGER

Dolores J. Steger, 89 of Canton, Mo., died November 4, 2017 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.
The daughter of James and Helen Cole Currie was born on October 12, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois.
Dolores, known to her friends as “Dee” raised three daughters, Bonnie, Malinda and Abby by herself. She had many careers in her life time and worked hard to support her girls, making a positive impact in every career. She managed restaurants, tended bar, studied to be a beautician and opened up a home shop so she could be with her girls, Real Estate Agent, assisted in a floral shop and did floral design. She also worked in the Victim/Witness Assistance Unit of the Cook County States Attorney’s office and was the 1st Senior Specialist in Elder Abuse where she was highly respected in her field. She built a home on Lake of the Oaks that she was so very proud of. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her tremendous joy and bragging rights which she exercised quite frequently.
She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Gardner of Blue Island, Il, Malinda (Gerald) Poulter of Canton, Mo. and Abby Malloy of Creal Spring, Il.; eight grandchildren, Matthew Wolf, Wade Poulter, Michael Gardner, Danny Malloy, Jody Kirchner, Debbie Perry, Nicole Robbins and Libby Simon; eighteen great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; a sister, Gertrude Coulter of Paylos Heights, Il.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Allister Currie.
Funeral services will be held November 8, 2017 at 10 a.m.at Arnold’s Funeral Home in Canton, Missouri with Pastor Mandy Gosik officiating. Visitation was held Nov. 7 at the funeral home. Pallbearers: Wade Poulter, Matt Wolf, Zayne Wolf, Michael Gardner, Danny Malloy, Shay Kirchner, Dave Simon, Jason Poulter and Hunter Cottrell.
Burial will be in the St. Patrick Cemetery, St. Patrick, Missouri.
Memorials may be made to the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Big Tree Auxiliary #1800 of Canton.
