KATHERINE (KATIE) WALTERS

Mrs. Katherine (Katie) Walters, 84, of Canton, Mo., died March 2, 2017, in the Hannibal Regional Hospital, surrounded by her family. Katie was born July 12, 1932, in Hosston, LA, a daughter of Harold Jonas and Edna Peterson Trimble. She married Charles R. Walters on December 22, 1951, in Talco, Texas. He survives. Katie graduated from Talco High School and attended East Texas State College in Commerce, Texas, majoring in English. As a newlywed, she worked at the Texas A&M student union, supporting Charlie while he was completing his degree. After graduation he served in the United States Air Force and she traveled with him as a military wife to Germany, France, Belgium and Morocco. Katie was co-owner of The Suburban Lady Dress Boutique in Belton, Mo/, where she enjoyed interacting with customers and was always well dressed, with an eye for fashion. While in Belton, she was a member of the Chamber of Commerce. In later years, Katie enjoyed spending time at home with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a love for crossword puzzles and her dog, Susie. Throughout her life, Katie was always proud of being a wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Canton. Survivors include her husband, Charlie Walters of Canton; daughter, Karla (Jeff) McReynolds of Canton; granddaughter Jennifer (Jason) Berhorst of Leawood, Kansas; grandson, Jonathan (Kristen) McReynolds of Canton; grandson David McReynolds of Columbia, Mo; granddaughter MaryKate McReynolds of Canton; two great granddaughters, Olivia Grace and Gabriella Reece Berhorst, of Leawood, Kansas; sister in law Jo Trimble of Tullahoma, Tenn., and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Marion Trimble, sister Marion Pearson and her husband Milton, and nephews Monty Trimble and Kelly Pearson. Private family services were held March 6, 2017, at Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton, Mo., with Pastor Harry Cooper officiating.Pallbearers: Jeff McReynolds, Jonathan McReynolds, David McReynolds and Jason Berhorst Memorials may be made to Immanuel United Methodist Church, Canton, Mo.
