SHARON DEE (BASTERT) MITOK

Sharon Dee (Bastert) Mitok, 70, of LaGrange, Mo., died December 16, 2016. Sharon was born June 28, 1946 in Quincy to the late Robert W. Bastert and Delores Bastert. Sharon went to Unity High School in Mendon, IL and had a lifelong career as a Registered Nurse after graduating from Blessing Hospital School of Nursing. She had a special gift and compassion for her patients, and for the past several years she cared for residents in nursing homes, most recently Golden Good Shepherd and St. Vincent’s in Quincy. Sharon was a member of the LaGrange Garden Club, where she nurtured her love for plants and flowers. She enjoyed sharing her passion for Monarch butterflies with her nursing home residents, by showing them the lifecycle of the Monarch. She had a passionate love for music. Sharon was a devoted Cubs and Green Bay Packers fan, and was so excited to finally see her Cubbies win the World Series this year. Sharon was known for her dedication to family, her sense of humor, and her zest for life. Sharon had a hobby of collecting angels, and now she will be living among them. Surviving is her mother, Delores (Burke) Bastert of LaGrange, Mo, two sisters, Linda (Richard) Hess of LaGrange, Mo. and Carol (Joe) Krekeler of Chesterfield, Mo., three brothers, John (Pat) Bastert of Bolingbrook, Bob (friend Sandy Schutte) Bastert of Quincy, and Dan (Nancy) Bastert of Loraine; daughter, Amy Durst of Peoria and her son Rickey (Nicole) Mitok of Mackinaw, IL., three grandchildren - Amber Durst of Atlanta, Toni Moore of Peoria and Kai Mitok of Mackinaw and many nieces and nephews. Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Robert W. Bastert A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorials: St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Missourians for Monarchs.
