HOWARD L. SPRATT

Howard L. Spratt, 73 of Ewing, Missouri died July 1, 2015 at the V.A. Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa.

The son of Milo H. and Mary L. (Goings) Spratt was born on January 29, 1942 at Maywood, Missouri.

He was united in marriage to Sherry Schlueter on April 11, 1964 at Durham, Missouri.

Howard was a member and Trustee of Durham United Methodist Church where he has taught Sunday school for 29 years. He was also a member of the (V.I.M.) Volunteers in Mission Group at the church. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion. He was an avid team roper and member of the Diehard Roping Club and he liked to hunt and fish. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife Sherry Spratt of Ewing, Mo.; two children, Kevin Spratt and wife Kelly of Lewistown, Mo. and Kathy Henze and husband Jeff of Lewistown, Mo.; five grandchildren, Kelsey Henze, Dalton Spratt, Gaven Jett, Dustyn Spratt and Colten Jett; two great-grandchildren; brother, James Spratt of Durham, Mo.; sister, Ruth Wilcox of Lathem, Il.; sister-in-law, Carolyn Spratt of Galesburg, Il.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Eli Spratt, sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Cecil Carter, two brothers-in-law, Joe Wilcox and Dell Ray Schlueter and a nephew, Marvin Lair.

Funeral services were held July 6, 2015 at the Durham United Methodist Church in Durham, Missouri with Rev. Steve Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Durham Cemetery with Military Honors by Boots-Dickson Post 174 of the American Legion. Music: Organist: Mrs. Marge Durst. Pallbearers: Kevin Spratt, Jeff Henze, Dalton Spratt, Gaven Jett, Dustyn Spratt and Colten Jett. Honorary Pallbearers: Kelsey Henze, Nichole Cawthon, Shelby Hooper, Terry Going, Ron Pickett, James Spratt, Clay Baker and Kevin McCracken.

Memorials may be made to the Diehard Roping Club or the Durham United Methodist Church.
