ALVERA BROSS

Alvera Jett Bross, 83, of Canton, Missouri died October 27, 2016 in the Lewis County Nursing Home at Canton.The daughter of John H. and Theresa M. Gallamore Jacobs was born on October 22, 1933 at Canton, Missouri.She was united in marriage to Kenneth Lee Bross in September of 1950 at Canton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1980.Alvera worked at the Lewis County Nursing Home and was a Foster Grandparent at Canton R-V Day Care. She also provided in home care for many people around Canton. She liked to work in the garden and take care of her flowers.She is survived by two sons, Kenny (Becky) Bross and Mike Bross both of Canton; three grandchildren, Stephanie Cunningham, Michelle Bross and Matt Bross; six great-grandchildren, Rachel Cunningham, Hannah Cunningham, Logan Bross, Dawson Bross, Autumn Bross and Shiloh Bross; two sisters, Stella Halcomb of Mendon, Il. and Leona Strahlman of Davenport, Fl.; brother, Ray (Joan) Jacobs of LaGrange, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, Beulah Sherwood, Lottie Whetstine and Wanetta Decker, seven brothers, David in infancy, Leonard, Alvin, Vernon, John Dee, Dale and Terry Jacobs.Graveside funeral services and burial will be held Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra, Mo. with Rev. Dan Steinbeck officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Arnold’s Funeral Home in Canton.Memorials may be made to the Lewis County Nursing Home Auxiliary.
