Margaret Ann Dodd Hathaway, 81 of Hannibal, Mo., died Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Monroe City Manor in Monroe City, Mo. Margaret was born on April 5, 1935 in Hannibal, MO to John and Elizabeth Hamann Dodd. Margaret was a homemaker. She was married on July 29, 1954 in Hannibal, MO to Rev. Robert Hathaway. He preceded her in death in February of 1980.She was a minister’s wife and always active in the church, often teaching Sunday School for many years. She attended both the Life Tabernacle Church in Canton, MO and the United Pentecostal Church in Palmyra, MO. Margaret often enjoyed sipping a Pepsi and talking on the phone. She also liked to play bingo and work puzzles of all kinds and play “Scrabble”. She was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan. Most of all Margaret loved to share time with her family. Survivors include: two children:Peggy McCarty (Darrell) of La Grange, MO and Gary Hathaway (Terry) of Emerson, MO; one brother: David Dodd (Loretta) of Springfield, MO; three sisters: Marilyn Dilley (Roger) of Kinderhook, IL, Sandra Karr of Hannibal, MO and Linda Wade (Bobby) of Houston, TX; four grandchildren: Melissa McCarty, Reggie Hathaway, Amanda Hathaway Nelson, and Josh Hathaway; six great grandchildren, Brett Hathaway, Serene Nelson, Slade Nelson, Jackson Hathaway, Adyson Hathaway and Bristol McCarty. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Margaret was also preceded in death by her parents and one infant brother, Robert Dodd. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., September 21, 2016 at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, Mo. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal, MO. Rev. Paul Kinney and Rev. Robert Axton will officiate. Pallbearers: Les Karr, Steve Karr, Kevin Wade, Reggie Hathaway, Josh Hathaway, and Darrell McCarty. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and Monroe City Manor in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, Mo.
